Our Week in Ahuriri




We have had another wonderful week of learning and fun in Ahuriri. 


We welcomed a number of new children and families to the Ahuriri team.


We practiced our sight words and writing.  Here we are writing on the concrete with chalk.

 





We finished our Statistics work and begun our Numeracy programme.  Here we are making some playdough numbers and learning some of our maths box games. 

 


 
 




We played with new friends and tried to keep cool in the super hot weather! 






We look forward to more fun, laughter and learning next week!

Rolling a ball at a target

This week in P.E. we started work on Target Games.

We looked at the way we stand to roll a ball and how to roll a ball without making it bounce.
We started by rolling to a buddy and then tried to hit a cone. Later in the week we played skittles with a parent help Dad. It was terrific!

Statistics


Statistics - Greedy Cat Maths

We have been learning to ask questions and sort data during Maths.  These are both important skills for statistical investigations.










We have painted some amazing cat pictures which are displayed in Ahuriri's quiet room.

Next week we will sort these and use the data that we gather to create a pictogram.

The pictogram will help us begin to understand ways that we can display statistical information.  It also provides an opportunity for us to practice our one-to-one matching.  As well as strengthening our counting strategies.

Pete the Cat

We enjoyed reading the story "Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons". The we did a colouring, writing, cutting and counting activity.
