Matariki Celebrations


We have been learning about Matariki recently, we have been doing lots of great writing and activities during ACTIVE time to support this learning.


I wish for a mechanical robot. It would pick up chairs and pick up my clothes to get dressed in the morning. Max R

On Tuesday 28th June the whole school are going to see the Court Theatre Production for Matariki in our stadium. To celebrate the learning over this period we would like to invite you and your whānau to share kai with us at lunch time on the same day.  There will be a short informal sharing of learning in an assembly at 12pm and then into a shared lunch.  Children are invited to bring a plate to share with others.  If your child has any special diet requirements please ensure your teacher is aware and discuss any necessary arrangements.

We have been practising a song to sing to you for our assembly on Tuesday. If you would like to practise this song at home you can click here to go to a youtube clip with the song and the actions. The words to the song are below;

ACTIVE Time

This week we have been trialing “ACTIVE Time” in the mornings.  This time allows the children to learn through play while developing our school values of care, honesty and respect.  It provides an opportunity to work on the key competencies from the curriculum which are;
  • Thinking.
  • Relating to others.
  • Using language, symbols, and texts.
  • Managing self.
  • Participating and contributing.
This time also allows an opportunity for the children to inquire and explore areas of interest.

PMP and Library Stories

 We have enjoyed spending time with some of the older students, they took time to read to us in the library.


 We started PMP this week.We really enjoyed having lots of our parents in to help - Thank You!

Discovery Time!

Today for discovery time we looked at 'things that fly!'

We got out the parachute!


Our buddies came and joined in the fun!


We got to make paper planes...



and then we experimented with how far they could fly!
